The main event is 9-round Swiss tournament with FIDE time control which will be valid for FIDE rating and GM/IM norms. In addition, the 4th “Uroš Dinić” Memorial will commence as 15-minute per player rapid tournament on the main event’s rest day – Saturday, August 22nd.

The US Chess Championship finals will take place in Saint Louis, May 7-17, 2009. It will be hosted by the Scholastic Center and Chess Club of St. Louis and will collect the top players of the country. A $64,000 bonus in memory of late chess champion Bobby Fischer will be available.
The 2009 edition of the chess tournament Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting, July 2-12, will have a super strong participation. All players will be over 2700 ELO points, making it one of the super tournaments of the year.
The 22nd edition of the San Sebastian 2009 international open chess tournament will take place in Spain, April 5-12. The participants list has over 100 players from 23 countries. Top seeded is GM Alexander Delchev, and the winner of San Sebastian 2008, GM Ivan Slagado Lopez, will seek yet another title.
The Russian Team Championship is starting on 2nd April in Dagomys City, the same place that hosted last year’s competition. The Championship is consisting of three events – Women’s League, Men’s Premier and Higher League. Higher League launches tomorrow, while the other two will open on 4th April.
