The Cuban grandmaster Leinier Dominguez will be the top player in the 2009 Capablanca Memorial. Dominguez, winner of the 2008 edition of the tournament and frequent participant in the 2009 Grand Slam tournaments, will have a difficult task in this year’s closed group. His opponents will be Artyon Timofeev, Boris Savchenko, Igor Khenkin, Georg Meier, and his compatriot Lazaro Bruzon.

Indian national rapid chess championship

The Indian national rapid chess championship, organized by the Cyber Chess Academy, has started in Hyderabad. The competition will take place June 2-5 and it will be 11 rounds competition with time control 25 min + 10 sec. The competition will be followed by the national blitz event, with time control 3 min + 2 sec.
