Grandmaster Sriram Jha of Life Insurance Corporation of India will start as top seed and favourite in the 3rd edition of Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee Memorial All India Open Fide Rated Chess Tournament organized by Headquarters Maintenance Command Indian Air Force at Naivedhyam Celebration Centre here on Friday.
The 2nd International Grandmasters’ Tournament the Lublin Union Memorial is set to take place from 9th to 18th May in Lublin, Poland. Ten Grandmasters which form the field with the average elo of 2627 will compete in a round-robin tournament.
The Italian Team Chess Championship is taking place from 29th April to 2nd May in Arvier, Aosta Valley. 14 teams will compete in seven rounds Swiss tournament. The schedule is very tight, with three 2-game days and last game on 2nd May in the morning.

Judit Polgar will compete against the grandmaster David Navara from Thursday 22 April to Saturday 24 April 2010 in the eight-game rapid chess match (25 minutes for a game with an increment of 10 seconds per move). The match will take place at Michna Palace.
The 24-player field was finalized with the four, official wildcard selections: Grandmaster Alexander Stripunsky (NJ), Grandmaster Vinay Bhat (CA) and International Masters Irina Krush (NY) and Sam Shankland (CA). This year’s championship will feature a purse of more than $170,000, the largest per-capita prize fund in the tournament’s history.
The 11th International Poikovsky chess tournament in honor of former world champion Anatoly Karpov will take place from 31st May to 14th June, 2010. This time the field is extended to 12 players who will compete in round robin format. Peter Svidler is top seeded.
Magnus Carlsen has confirmed his participation in the 2010 Bazna Kings tournament. He will play in the strongest open in Romania together with Wang Yue, Gelfand, Radjabov, Ponomariov and Nisipeanu.
