Chess club “Radnicki” and City of Kragujevac are organizing the 2010 Serbia Chess Championship for men, which will be held from 18th April to 1st May in Hotel “Sumarice”, Kragujevac. 14 players will compete in the round-robin tournament for the title and 4000 EUR prize fund. In addition, each player will be provided with 130-210 EUR for expenses, depending on the rating.
International open chess tournament “Bar 2010″ is taking place on 17-24th April in Hotel “Princess” in Bar, Montenegro. The tournament will be played over nine rounds according to Swiss pairing system, the results will be valid for Balkan Grand Prix.
The tournament will be played with Swiss pairings and over 11 rounds. The organizer is providing chess sets and clocks. Total prize fund is 52.100 LEI (aprox. 12.000 EUR), with 42.000 LEI alocated for the main prizes and 10.100 for the prizes in junior groups.

Former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik will lead the field of eight players who will compete in rapid and blitz play, and on the final day host simultaneous exhibitions along the Baku seaside. Other international players are Judith Polgar from Hungary, Gata Kamsky from USA, who is a frequent guest in Baku, and Emil Sutovsky of Israel.
The annual international open chess tournament Summer Cup 2010 will be organised this year in Porto Carras, Greece, the same venue which was chosen by the EU for the European Leaders Summit 2003! Famous politicians such as Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac, Silvio Berlusconi, Gerhard Schroeder, Jose Maria Aznar, Konstantinos Simitis and many more were hosted in 2003 in Porto Carras.
The Heart of Finland tournament is the biggest annual chess event in Finland. The competition is organised by the chess club Jyväs-Shakki and is going to be held in Jyväskylä, from 5th to 11th July 2010. This year’s event is promising to be even more special than the previous editions — the tournament will be celebrating it’s 20th birthday!
