Danzhou Hainan Super GM Chess Tournament

Ten top Chinese Grandmasters will compete, with the exception of GM Wang Yue who will play Bazna Kings in Romania. The playing format is round robin and the time control will be 90 minutes per player with an incremental time of 30 seconds per move. The prize fund is about 36.000 EUR.

London Chess Classic 2010

Viswanathan Anand will become the first reigning World Chess Champion to play in a major tournament in London since Anatoly Karpov in 1984 when he joins the eight-player field for the second London Chess Classic, which runs from 8-15 December 2010 at the Olympia Conference Centre.

Alongside him will be World Number one Magnus Carlsen, former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik, US number one Hikaru Nakamura and the top four English players Michael Adams, Nigel Short, Luke McShane and David Howell.

9th Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Ten teams are supposed to compete in a round robin tournament, but Laus from Banja Luka is still uncertain. Top seeded is local Bihac with a number of BIH Grandmasters supported by Hungarian Gyimesi and Croatian players on the top boards. Four-time European champion Bosna is second seeded, with Russian GM Artyom Timofeev on board one.

The invitations are also sent out to some players from abroad, thus like last year, we await to see a struggle between the top Czech and Slovak players – David Navara (2718) and Sergei Movsesian (2717). Last year it was the Slovakian player, who by the way lives in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, who won the tournament and the special prize – a valuable diamond from the Diamond International Corporation.

The 10th Asean Age Group Chess Championship will take place June 5th – 12th, 2010, in Subic, Philippines. The competition will consist of classical 9 round Swiss event with time control 120 minutes per game, as well as rapid and blitz tournaments.

The Taca Cidade de Fortaleza (Fortaleza City Cup) is set to take place on 3rd to 6th June at the Praiano Hotel, Av. Beira Mar, Bairro Meireles. The seven-round Swiss event is also a qualifier for the semifinal of the Brazil chess championship. The playing rate is 90min+30 sec, if a digital clock is available, otherwise it will be 120 min per player knockout. The total prize fund is R$ 6.000,00.
