China Chess Championships 2010

24th May to 4th June 2010 in Xinghua, Jiangsu Province

The 2010 China Chess Championships are taking place from 24th May to 4th June 2010 in Xinghua, Jiangsu Province. Both competitions are 12-player round-robins, with 11 rounds of play and time control of 90min +30sec per move.

Top seed in the men’s group is Hao Wang, who had recently won Bosna chess tournament, one of the world’s strongest open events. China’s highest rated player Wang Yue is opting out as he is getting ready for the Bazna Kings Grand Slam event. Bu Xiangzhi, Ni Hua and Zhou Jianchao are participating, while Yifan Hou is given a wildcard invitation. The defending champion is GM Ding Liren.

Wang Hao 2722, Bu Xiangzhi 2682, Ni Hua 2667, Zhou Jianchao 2652, Li Chao b 2619, Hou Yifan 2589, Zhou Weiqi 2585, Ding Liren 2547, Li Shilong 2514, Zhang Ziyang 2422, Ji Dan 2379 and Lu Shanglei 2349.

GM Li Shilong 2514, IM Zhang Ziyang 2422 and Lu Shanglei 2349 are top three qualifiers from the 2009 Chinese Chess Championship Group B.

WGM Ju Wenjun is progressing rapidly after the 2008 Women’s World Championship and is the top rated contestant in the women’s championship. FIDE Grand Prix player GM Zhao Xue and the defending champion WGM Shen Yang are also competing.

Ju Wenjun 2500, Zhao Xue 2493, Tan Zhongyi 2464, Shen Yang 2452, Huang Qian 2437, Zhang Xiaowen 2426, Gu Xiaobing 2361, Wang Yu A 2337, Ding Yixin 2327, Zhang Jilin 2280, Wang Doudou 2216 and Wang Jue 2180.

WGM Huang Qian is given a wildcard ticket, while WGM Zhang Jilin 2280, Wang Doudou 2216 and Wang Jue 2180 are top three qualifiers from the 2009 Chinese Chess Championship Group B.
