The Politiken Cup 2010 is set to take place from 31st July to 8th August at the Lo-Skolen Center in Denmark. The chess program consists of the main Politiken Cup, which is open tournament with 10 rounds, B-Group (open, 7 rounds), Blitz event, Simul with GM Peter Svidler, Kids Cup and Lectures.
The tournament already has 293 players from 27 countries signed to take participation. Among them are 20 Grandmasters and eight players rated above 2600 FIDE. Top seed is Ukraine's highest rated player GM Pavel Eljanov (2755). There follow 2009 Asia chess champion GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (IND 2655), GM Georg Meier (GER 2648), 2009 Poland champion GM Bartlomiej Macieja (POL 2639), GM Vladimir Baklan (UKR 2638), GM Michal Krasenkow (POL 2628), GM Mikheil Mchedlishvili (GEO 2625), GM Maxim Rodshtein (ISR 2609), GM Konstantin Landa (RUS 2598), GM Sune Berg Hansen (DEN 2595), GM Jonny Hector (SWE 2584) etc.
Five time Russia chess champion Peter Svidler will give a simul at Copenhagen central train station on 30th July / 15:00 CET. The simul is arranged by the Copenhagen Chess Federation.
