The fourth edition of the Ruy Lopez International Festival is set to take place on 11-19th June in Villafranca de los Barros, Extremadura, Spain. Numerous events are planned, some of them being youth and amateur tournaments, lectures, master tournament, meetings, rapid open…
The Festival has been consolidated through the efforts of the sponsors and organizers: Ministry of Youth and Sport of Extremadura, Extremadura Assembly, City of Villafranca, Diputación de Badajoz, Caja Badajoz, Extremadura Brand, Cafés Delta, Foundation for Youth and Sport, Glass BA, Hoy and the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Chess and numerous private entities. Everything coordinated by the Chess Club Linex-Magic Extremadura and the Association Ruy Lopez de Zafra.
The main event of the Festival is the round robin Master Tournament with 8 players. The list combines experience and youth, talent and desire to progress: Vladimir Malakhov (RUS 2722), Fabiano Caruana (ITA 2675), Ivan Cheparinov (BUL 2640), Gabriel Sargissian (ARM 2677), Pia Cramling (SWE 2536), WGM Deisy Cori (PER 2409), GM Ivan Salgado (ESP 2606) and IM Manuel Pérez Candelario (ESP 2527).
