World Youth Chess Championship 2011

The World Youth Chess Championship 2011 will be held in Caldas Novas, state of Goiás, Brazil from 17 to 27 of November. The original venue of Rio de Janeiro had to be changed due to building works in the city and alterations to the hotels in preparation for the World Soccer Cup in 2014 and Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The tenth Aeroflot Chess Open will feature a super prize fund of 125 000 eur. Top seeded and favorite for the first prize of 20 000 eur is GM Gata Kamsky, who is leading the list of participants in Aeroflot A. He will have strong competition, facing the new Armenia player GM Sergey Movsesian, GM Dmitry Jakovenko, GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Wesley So, GM Alexander Motylev, GM Nikita Vitiugov, GM Dmitry Andreikin, GM Emil Sutovsky, the ex World Champions Kasimdzhanov and Kosteniuk, as well as close to 100 players above 2550 ELO.

Iasi County Chess Association, Romanian Chess Federation and European Chess Union have the honor to invite youth teams from each national chess federation, ECU affiliated, to participate at the EUROPEAN YOUTH TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP organized in Iasi, Romania, from 14th July (Arrival) to 22nd July (Departure) 2011.
