International Youth Chess Open Ohrid Lake

Nine round open on 17-25 August 2011 in Struga

The Center for Chess Affirmation and Development is organizing the International Youth Chess Open “Ohrid Lake” 2011, which will take place on 17-25 August 2011, in Struga, Republic of Macedonia.

All players born in 1993 or younger have the right to participate. The tournament will be played by a 9-round Swiss System. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, additional 30 minutes until the end of the game, with 30 seconds increment for every move. The tournament will be rated with FIDE.

The Ohrid Lake was declared a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1979. Ohrid once had 365 churches, one for every day of the year, and was referred to as “Jerusalem”. In 2010, NASA decided to name one of Titan’s lakes after Ohrid Lake.
