International Chess Championship Zagreb Open 2011 will be played from 11th to 18th April at Hotel Porin in Zagreb, Croatia. The organizer is Zagreb Chess Federation and the system of play in nine round Swiss with 90 minutes for 40 moves+ 15 min to the end of game incl. 30 seconds increment for every move (from the beginning of the game).

The tournament will be split in two events, Grandmaster Group for players rated above 2300 and Master Group for players rated under 2300. The prize fund in the main event is approximately 7200 EUR, with 2000 EUR reserved for the winner, and the prizes in the Master Group amount to 2400 EUR.

Zagreb Open chess tournament

GM Zelcic, GM Saric, and GM Zubarev are top seeded

The international chess open tournament Zagreb Open will take place 21-29 March, 2009. In the A group of the event a total of 33 titled players will participate, 11 of which GMs and 13 IMs. Top seeded is the Croatian Olympic team member GM Robert Zelcic. He will have strong competitors in the face of GM Alexander Zubarev (UKR) and GM Axel Bachmann (PAR), as well as strong Croation opposition from GM Ante Saric and GM Ante Brkic.

The tournament is 9 round Swiss system with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves + 15 min to the end of game and 30 seconds increment from move 1. Group A has 33 players who complete the minimum rating requirement, in group B will be the rest of the players, a total of 150+ participants.
