Atatürk Women Masters Chess

Scheduled for 10-20th March in Istanbul, Turkey

In the time when there are plenty of lucrative tournaments for top players, particularly after addition of Grand Slam and Grand Prix, the Turkish Chess Federation with the sponsorship of Türkiye İş Bankası is organizing super-tournament for women chess players.

This round robin event with 10 players is scheduled to take place on 10-20th March in Istanbul, Turkey and the playing venue is the 41st floor of Türkiye İş Bankası towers, the highest building on the Balkan peninsula, nested in the heart of Istanbul business area. The tournament is named after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the modern Turkish Republic.

Another important procedure, for which we hope becomes standard, was introduced by the TCF. An open invitation to the top female players to apply for participation was published in December. To make a step towards complete transparency, the organizers have announced the appearance fees (for both rating category and starting rank), airfare costs and even pocket money for dinner in local restaurants. With two seats reserved for the best Turkish players, the tournament quickly filled in.
