The Canadian Chess Open will take place in Otawa, July 7-15, 2007. It is the country's premier event that attracts more than 200 players from beginners to world-class grandmasters. Recent winners have included: GM Abhijit Kunte, GM Walter Arencibia, GM Alexei Shirov, GM Vassily Ivanchuk, GM Victor Bologan, GM Mark Bluvshtein, IM S.R. Chowdhury.
The Open consists of one section with an estimated $20,000 prize fund based on 200 entries, class prizes. The tournament will be CFC-rated for all players, and FIDE-rated for those whose performance qualifies for FIDE rating. The time control will 120 minutes with 30-second increments.
