Deauville Chess Club and West Normandy League will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the most glamorous French seaside resort with a closed GM-tournament. For once, it is not that the American movie stars are attraction in Deauville, like during the US film festival, but the chess players. In partnership with the French Chess Federation, the competition will run from 6th to 12th February.

For this first edition, the invited Grandmasters will be Alberto David (LUX 2608), Kaïdo Kulaots (EST 2578), Milos Pavlovic (SRB 2539) and Igor Rausis (CZE 2505). Six International Masters will try to fullfil a 6 points/9 games GM-norm: Jean-Pierre Le Roux (FRA 2497), Catalin Navrotescu (ROU 2444), Vinccent Colin (FRA 2437), Kevin Terrieux (FRA 2433), Jovanka Houska (ENG 2401) and Arnaud Payen (FRA 2352).
Various activities will accompany the tournament, including master’s commentary for the audience, contests, prognosis of the day etc.
