3rd Europe Echecs Circuit Espoir

Chess under the Eiffel Tower!

Europe Echecs is organizing the 3rd Circuit Espoir which will take place on 5th October, under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. This year, the chess event will be part of the bigger festival – “Vivre le sport”, which will bring together the best European athletes of 18 sports. This day will be opened by a speech of the President of the European Union, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Sophie Milliet, 2008 French champion, and Pauline Guichard will represent tricolores, while the best Latvian player Dana Reizniece and 2008 Hungarian champion Anna Rudolf will complete the international presence.

The competition will take place under the Eiffel Tower, on Champs de Mars, and will consist of three rounds double round-robin with rapid time control (10 minutes + 2 seconds per move). In case of a first-place tie, the players will settle the winner in blitz games with 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move.

9h – 18h: Free blitz games for all interested visitors

9:30 – 17h: Simultaneous exhibitions and battle of chess/physical condition: 2 players play blitz (they each have 5 minutes to prove their point) and run after each move to press the clock on 5 meters distance).

10h: Session with 2008 French champions Etienne Bacrot and Sophie Milliet.

14h – 17h: Women’s European Union Trophy – Europe-Echecs Circuit Espoir

Laurent Fressinet, 2006 European Blitz vice-champion, Marie Sebag, ranked as 7th Woman on the world’s list, and Almira Skripchenko, French champion on 2004, 2005, 2006, will be also attending the festival.
