Continental Asian Junior and Girls Under–20 Chess Championships

INVITATION

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on behalf of FIDE and Asian Chess Federation cordially invite your Federation to participate in the Asian Junior and Girls U 20 Chess Championships to be held at Ceylon Continental Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Age Limit

According to FIDE regulations, only those born on or after 1st January 1989 are eligible to participate in the Championships.

Participants

Subject to the age restriction, the following will be entitled to participate in the Championships as per the FIDE Rules under D.VI.07.

a) The players placed 1-3 in the previous Asian Junior and Girls U-20 Championships

b) The reigning champions of Asian Under – 18 and Asian Under – 16 chess Championships.

c) Each Affiliated National Federation from zone 3.1 to 3.6 will have the right to nominate one player to Asian Junior and Girls Under-20 championship.

d) One additional player nominated by the Organizing Federation.

In addition to the above the Organizing Federation will hold a player in reserve to make an even number of participants, if necessary.

If a Federation wishes to have additional players participating, besides those qualified by the normal way and by personal right, they have to obtain necessary permission from the Organizing Committee. A player can participate in the competition only after getting an official consent from the Organizing Federation.

According to FIDE regulations an entry fee of 60 Euros is required for each player, except the defending champion, and 120 Euros for any additional player.

Apart from the above, the bank charges, as applicable have to be borne by the participants / participating federation as part of the entry fee.

Registration

The Registration Forms shall be submitted to All India Chess Federation to be received before June 10th, 2009. A copy of the form should also be sent to Asian Chess Federation and also respective Zonal Presidents. Each participant and accompanying person must pay Euros 100 as registration fee, which will include the airport transfers from the Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo to the venue and back.

Travelling Expenses

According to the FIDE Regulation, traveling expenses shall be borne by the participating Federations.

Board and Lodging

Participants from countries other than Sri Lanka must stay and dine at the Ceylon Continental Hotel, a five star hotel arranged by the Organizers.

The main participants (those who qualified by the normal way and by personal right) will be provided with free board and lodging in double/ triple sharing basis.

Each additional participant and each accompanying person should pay Euros 35 per day for sharing a double room plus three meals a day. The tariff for single room plus three meals is Euros 50 per day. It is obligatory for the participants, all accompanying persons and officials to request the Hotel booking only through the organizers.

Payments

All payments due to the Organisers on account of registration fee, boarding and lodging expenses and airport transfers must be paid in advance and proof thereof (bank acknowledgment ) must be sent along with the registration

Entry Visas

Participants needing visa are requested to contact the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka before 10th June 2009. Invitations for visas will only be provided after the payment of registration fee and who are accommodated in the official hotel.

Tournament Regulations

The tournament will be held in accordance with FIDE regulations (D.VI.07)

The events will be conducted according to the Swiss System, 9 rounds.

The rate of play shall be all the moves in 90 minutes, but for each move a player receives an extra 30 seconds added to his clock time. The games will be played using the Digital clock .
