Jermuk Open and Lake Savan

The Chess Academy of Armenia is organizing two important tournaments in 2007. The first one is Jermuk Open under 10, 12, 14, 18 which will take place from 24 June to 4 July in a resort town of Jermuk. It is followed by “Lake Sevan”, a 9 round robin tournament of XI Category which will take place from the 5th-15th July in a resort town of Sevan. The winner of the Jermuk tournament under 18 will receive an invitation to participate in the “Lake Sevan 2007″ tournament.

Jermuk is a town-resort known its mineral waters. It is situated 170 km south-east from Yerevan. The altitude of the highland is 2080 m above sea level. Jermuk is one of the most ecologically clean regions in Armenia. The main salubrious factors of the resort are hypothermal mineral waters. Now add chess to that and you have a great place for chess tourism.
