23 Round Robin Tournaments in Nancy

16-22 February 2009 in Nancy, France

The 7th International Chess Festival of Meurthe et Moselle is taking place on 16-22 February 2009 in Nancy, France. Following the last year’s success, when 140 participants competed in 14 ten-player round robin tournaments, the Festival is extended to 23 (15×10, 8×8) tournaments with possibility of taking a short 4-day schedule (8 players, 7 rounds).

The main Grandmaster tournament is sporting an average elo of 2556, thus rating this event as 13th Category FIDE. Young French players will be given a chance to fight against experienced opposition and earn GM norms. Chessdom commentator GM Christian Bauer won the last year event.
