2nd FIDE Women Grand Prix

27th Sept – 9th October 2009 in Nanjing

The 2nd FIDE Women Grand Prix will take place 27th Sept – 9th October 2009 in Nanjing, China. The tournament will be parallel to the first Grand Slam 2009 – 2010 event in Nanjing. 12 of the top women will participate in the Grand Prix.

The immediate effect of scheduling a top women event at that time is a calendar clash with the European Club Cup for Women that will take place in Ohrid, FYROM, 3-11 October 2009. The first Women Grand Prix in Istanbul clashed with the European Individual Women Championship. At the time the ECU President Boris Kutin sent an open letter protesting the scheduling of both Grand Prix events.

Another tournament from the Women Grand Prix series is supposed to be the North Urals Cup, no dates have been announced yet.

Stay tuned with as the story unfolds!
