International Chess Tournament Sport Summer 2008

Paracin, 7-13th July

International Chess Tournament "Sport Summer 2008", organized by the Sports Union of Paracin and chess club SFS Borac, will take place on 7-13th July in Paracin, Serbia. The invited players will form a field of average rating 2360, which is classified as 5th category event according to FIDE scale. This will be the first international chess event in the region of Pomoravlje after "Metalka Jagodina 1994".

The tournament format is nine rounds all-play-all with time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds after each move. Chief arbiter is Boban Milojevic and tournament director is Goran Stamenkovic. The special feature will be real-time broadcasting over the internet, which is a rare occurrence in Serbia. IA Nebojsa Baralic will be in charge of transmission and games can be seen live on the pages of Serbian Chess Federation.

The organizers have announced the participants names at the press conference in Paracin City Hall. Top seeded is IM Goran Vojinovic (2468). GM Milko Popchev (2411) and IM Bogomil Andonov (2326) are ariving from Bulgaria. FM Dejan Dinev (2312) and extra-talented Filip Panchevski (2407) will represent the neighboring FYROM. Strong masters FM Boroljub Zlatanovic (2386) from Cuprija and FM Mihajlo Vujic (2340) are playing their first round robin tournament. The vibrant chess community of Paracin will chear on local players FM Dejan Brankovic (2398), FM Mladen Milenkovic (2343) and Sasa Jevtic (2206).
