The 2nd Nanjing Pearl Spring Chess Tournament will takes place 27th Sept - 9th October 2009 in Nanjing, China. Most of the field is already known - Veselin Topalov, Viswanathan Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Teimour Radjabov, Dmitry Jakovenko, a Chinese player to be announced.
That makes the Nanjing Pearl Spring one of the top tournaments of the year with temporary rating average of 2775. In case the rating average maintains and the Chinese player is Bu Xiangzhi or Wang Yue, the tournament will be at least category 21.
Top seeded at the moment is last year's winner GM Veselin Topalov. He will come directly from the Final Masters in Bilbao where he participates until the 15th of September. This will also be the last direct clash between Anand and Topalov before their World Championship match.
The Chess Pearl Springs tournament will be a double round robin with a prize fund of 250 000 eur.
