Politiken Cup 2007

July 21-29, Copenhagen

Politiken Cup 2007 is 10 rounds Open Swiss tournament. The rate of play is 40 moves for 2 hours and 1 hour is added after move 40. In case of equal points, a tiebreak is applied: 1. Middle Buchholz, 2. Sonneborn-Berger.

Politiken Cup will be the most important tournament in Denmark for 2007. Up to now over a hundred players have signed up and, besides the fantastic prizes, the organizers have prepared fun simul and blitz events. Moreover, the Danish brewery Wiibroe will provide over 300 bottles of its finest beer.

Prizes in DKK (1 DKK is approx. 0,18 USD):

1. 15.000; 2. 12.000; 3. 10.000; 4. 8.000; 5. 6.000; 6. 5.000; 7. 4.000; 8. 3.000; 9-13. 2.000; 14–20. 1.000;

The playing site

Politiken Cup will be valid as 2007 Nordic Championships. The Women and Senior categories are played as separated tournaments, and registration is already open. The main Politiken tournament will act as Elite Group of the Nordic Championships. Visit also Nordic Chess Federation website.
