This splendid Sheveningen event, organized by NH Hotels and Association Max Euwe, is set for its second edition on August 22nd to September 1st. With the core of players from the last year tournament, we'll get to see couple of attractive additions.
The Rising Stars team is led by Sergey Karjakin (UKR 2678), the youngest grandmaster of all time. Enforced by Sigeman winner Ivan Cheparinov (BUL 2657), currently youngest grandmaster in the world Parimarjan Negi (IND 2529), Holland's hottest player of the year Daniel Stellwagen (NED 2631) and regular Dutch representative Jan Smeets (NED 2538), the young lions are clearly going for another overall win.
Striking force: Karjakin and Cheparinov
The experience team is composed of Alexander Beliavsky (SLO 2653), 2-times Dutch champion Predrag Nikolic (BIH 2646), former FIDE World Champion Alexander Khalifman (RUS 2632), Artur Yusupov (GER 2583) and "the man with frozen lightnings in his hands" - Ljubomir Ljubojevic (SER 2550).
Over ten rounds every member of the one team plays every member of the other team with both colors. The best player on the "Rising Stars" team (provided he has a positive score) will be invited to the 2008 Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament in Monaco. Last year laureate was Magnus Carlsen.
Relying on experience: Predrag Nikolic
The playing venue is the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, centrally located on Dam Square, at walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station. The games and video press conferences will be broadcast live on the official website www.nhchess2007.nl.
