16th Sigeman Chess Tournament

Dutch junior GM Daniel Stellwagen is top seeded player

The 16th Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament, under organization of Limhamn Chess Club, is taking place on 22-30 April in Hipp Theater in Malmo, Sweden. The lineup is a mix of regular participants and couple of new faces. Veterans Jan Timman (NED 2565) and Lajos Portisch (HUN 2523) will be again in the same tournament, only couple of months after the Corus Honorary event, and while Timman is already feeling at home in Malmo, Portisch (71) will be making his debut.

Dutch junior GM Daniel Stellwagen (2621), who already played Sigeman back in 2006, will be top rated player. Top Greek player GM Vassilios Kotronias (2611) and Norwegian GM Kjetil Lie (2558) are heading to Malmo after completing participation at the 2008 Gausdal Classics. Lie will be searching to recover from three consecutive defeats in the Gausdal finish. Respected writer GM Lars Bo Hansen (DEN 2563) is closing the international list.
