The Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) is proud to host the 4th World Schools Chess Championships, a mega-event scheduled 23 to 30 July 2008 for some of the world's best chess players aged below 17 as of 1 January 2008.
This premier annual event has since its inception in 2004 been an important part of the international chess calendar under the auspices of the World Chess Federation.
Co-hosting this year's event with the SCF is Teck Ghee Community Club. The event is supported by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC), as well as the ASEAN Chess Academy, the only FIDE-endorsed chess academy in Asia.
This year's event has attracted more than 250 youths from 23 countries - including Colombia, Peru, Soth Africa and Zimbabwe in 12 age categories - Open & Girls Under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 & 17. Singapore, which is fielding 120 players, had won the U7 Boys and U11 Girls as well as the overall team titles in 2006.

The top rated players in the open section are WFM Bhakti, FM Chua Zheng Yuan Terry, Koh Jonathan, FM Lo Kin Mun Dominic, FM Khouri, etc. In total 25 titled players of which 1 WIM, 6 FM, and 11 WFM will take part in the World School Chess Championship.
